Our comprehensive 4th Grade English Language Arts (ELA) course is designed to build confident readers and skilled writers. This 36-week curriculum is aligned with Common Core State Standards and perfect for homeschoolers, after-school enrichment, or supplemental support. Students meet twice per week for 45-minute lessons that blend reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and speaking skills.
Each week includes carefully planned activities that develop reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and writing in a structured, engaging way. Throughout the year, students will explore a variety of texts and genres including fairy tales, poetry, nonfiction, biographies, and persuasive writing.

Unit 1: Building Strong Foundations
Predicting, sequencing, and comparing texts
Exploring fairy tales, realistic fiction, and expository texts
Writing clear sentences and identifying subjects, predicates, and conjunctions

Writing: Opinion, narrative, and informational paragraphs
Unit 2: Deepening Comprehension and Language
Summarizing and identifying main ideas and supporting details
Literary forms: poetry (lyric, haiku), fantasy, and biography

Analyzing author’s point of view

Grammar: pronouns, adjectives, contractions, and homophones

Exploring theme, figurative language, and connotation/denotation
Reading narrative nonfiction and expository texts
