Why Does This Matter?
Knowing our strengths helps us become more confident and prepared for challenges. When you understand what you are good at, you can use that to solve problems, encourage others, and continue growing into the person you want to become.

Using our strengths helps them to grow.

Vocabulary Word

Capability(noun)

Definition: A skill, strength, or ability that helps accomplish something.

Example: One of Liam’s greatest capabilities was staying calm when solving difficult math problems.

Challenge: Try using the word capability somewhere in your journal entry.

Reflecting on what our strengths are helps us learn and grow.

Writing Challenge: Transitions

Transitions are words that show how we move from one idea to the next. They help connect ideas and make your writing easier to read.

A few examples:

To begin: First, First of all, In the beginning

To add another idea: Also, Next, Additionally

To explain why: Because of this, Since, As a result

To end: Finally, In conclusion, Lastly

Remember: Most transition words or phrases should be followed by a comma.

Instead of:  “I am responsible. I finish my homework. I help my little brother.”

Try: “First, I finish my homework before I play. Next, I help my little brother. Finally, I clean my room without being asked because I like to be responsible.”

Use at least five transition words in your journal to help connect your ideas and make your writing smoother.
